In case of fire
-
1 Ensure your safety and close the outdoor valve
Ensure your safety, and if possible, turn the outdoor valve clockwise (to the right) to close it.
Inform firefighters or emergency personnel of the valve's location and ask them to handle further actions.
In case of earthquake
-
1 After the shaking stops, close the main valve and ventilate
Ensure your safety, and after the shaking stops, turn off any gas appliances in use and close the gas main valve. If you smell gas, stop using any open flames or electrical appliances, and open windows for ventilation.
-
2 Check if the gas cylinder has fallen or if there are any issues
Check if the propane (LP gas) cylinder has fallen or if the gas pipe is detached, and verify that the exhaust pipe of the water heater is not detached. If you notice any issues or feel uncertain about the equipment, stop using it until it has been inspected.
-
3 If the gas is off, reset the gas meter
If the red light on the gas meter is blinking, follow the instructions on the Gas Meter Reset page to perform the reset operation.
