Gas Price

LP Gas Pricing System

Two-part Pricing

The monthly propane gas fee consists of the “basic fee” combined with the “usage-based fee,” which is charged according to the amount of gas consumed.

The basic fee covers the costs associated with maintaining and managing the equipment necessary for supplying LP gas. This fee is determined independently by the gas supplier and is charged at a fixed rate each month, regardless of the amount of propane gas used.

The usage-based fee is calculated based on a per-cubic-meter unit price (e.g., ¥XX per m³) set by the supplier. The more gas you use, the higher the usage-based fee will be.

Three-part Pricing

The monthly propane gas fee is composed of the “basic fee,” the “usage-based fee” charged according to gas consumption, and the “equipment fee” for pipelines, alarm systems, and other equipment.

The basic fee covers the costs of maintaining and managing the equipment required for LP gas supply. This fee is independently determined by the supplier and is charged at a fixed rate each month, regardless of propane gas usage.

The usage-based fee is calculated based on a unit price per cubic meter (e.g., ¥XX per m³) set by the supplier. The more gas you use, the higher the usage-based fee will be.

The equipment fee includes charges for services such as “central monitoring systems and gas leak alarms” and rental fees for consumer equipment like pipelines and water heaters.

Fluctuations in LP Gas Pricing

The price of LP gas, which is mostly imported, is greatly influenced by fluctuations in the FOB price (the price at the shipping stage from Saudi Arabia), exchange rates such as the strength or weakness of the yen, and other factors.

Additional costs include transportation fees for containers, safety expenses, personnel costs for meter reading, and other related labor costs. For more detailed information on the trends in LP gas prices, please visit the “Oil Information Center” website.

How fees are calculated

The unit price for the pay-as-you-go charge is the unit price for each usage fee category.
Amounts less than 1 yen are rounded down for each usage category calculation.
The amount equivalent to consumption tax, etc. is calculated using the following formula.
Amount equivalent to consumption tax, etc. = gas fee (tax included) x consumption tax rate ÷ (1 + consumption tax rate)
